ME

I’m Andrea. I was born on a naval base in Jacksonville, Florida, but I can say most of my roots are from Kentucky. Different from most of my family, I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. Luckily, I have encouraging parents who supported my dreams through childhood. I was able to be exposed to the opportunities that led me to find what I was talented at. Musical theatre performance was not only therapeutic and exhilarating but healing for everyone in the theatre.

I wouldn’t even let my mother listen from the other side of the door when I would sing in the shower, but put me in front of a huge audience, lights, costumes, music… I wasn’t afraid of anything. I was accepted to the Kentucky Governors School for the Arts in 2010 for Musical Theatre Performance and my life changed. Deciding between going to college on a full ride playing the bassoon or taking a leap of faith to pursue performing, I went to school and graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance from Northern Kentucky University in 2015.

After graduation, I started performing professionally around the Greater Cincinnati area with my agent and other theatre companies. While working as a nanny to support my lifestyle as a starving artist, I assisted a makeup artist in the area who believed in me. A year later I started on my own doing weddings, events, and more as a freelance makeup artist- Airbrush by Andrea. I was blessed to be able to lead in a powerful musical for two years in a row, singing on live television. On the weekends, I spent most of my time around Cincinnati performing as a Disney Princess performer.

I also found yoga. Yoga was what brought me back to my authentic self, my confidence, and my health. Being a performer had its ups and downs emotionally and physically, so it was a no brainer to incorporate yoga in my life. My love for yoga and anatomy grew to my interest in teaching the practice to others. The human body is something I am continually amazed by, but I was amazed at how it changed my life for the better. Wanting to share this with others- I received my 300 hour Yoga Teacher Certification from World Peace Yoga in 2019.

Yoga, my passion for healing, the human anatomy, and my love for people led me to the decision to go back to school in Fall 2019 to pursue another degree- Nursing. I have always been a person to believe in opportunity and to never stop growing. With world pandemic of COVID-19 and hospitalizations on the rise during early 2020, I decided to serve as much as I can while I finish school. I became a certified Nurse assistant on a Cardiac/telemetry unit. Eventually I worked in a long-term care and assisted living facility where I learned the ultimate love and patience while taking care of people with dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Now working at a Trauma 1 hospital in the Emergency Department, I plan to continue working as an ER nurse, tending to my plants, taking care of my pup, doing makeup on the side, and doing more yoga. Very thankful that my journey has continued to lead me this far and I am privileged to (hopefully) continue make a difference even in the slightest.

Namaste y’all.
